The monument of King Rama VI, or King Vajiravudh, is probably one of the most-seen monuments of the past kings in Bangkok, thanks to the premise sets in front of the Lumphini Park, Bangkok’s first public park opened during his reign, at one of the busiest intersections of this capital city overlooking the financial and commercial district of Silom. Raised inBangkokand educated in theUnited Kingdom, King Rama VI followed his father’s pace by developingThailandtoward the Western model combined with Thai ways of life. The statue was was sculpted by an Italian artist Professor Corado Feroci, or Silpa Bhirasri (his Thai name) and was open on 27 March 1942.
